How Custom Drapes Are Made in Colorado Springs
Have you ever wondered if your custom drapes are made here in Colorado Springs? Or how custom drapes are made?
Your drapes are quite literally made by hand in a place called a drapery workroom. We have about five drapery workrooms in Colorado Springs currently. These are locally owned businesses and while we prefer to send your orders to workrooms in town, the size of the drapes make a difference.
If your drapes are especially long, we go to a workroom in Denver, where they have more space. A workroom needs more than twenty feet of space and tables to assemble twenty-foot window coverings and some workrooms are small.
The process of having custom drapes made is similar to that of having clothing made. In fact, only wedding dresses are more complicated to make than drapes, which is why it takes time to get your order. Since we design your drapes just for you and your home, each job the workroom does is different.
Every piece is measured and cut by hand. The hemming is done by hand. Artisans attach the hardware and embellishments you’ve chosen with careful attention to detail.
At Pikes Peak Interiors, we design custom drapes for you with software that lets you see what they will look like so that you can be sure you will like them before we place the order. We know how much work goes into them and how important your home is to you. Like you, we want them to be perfect.
Once designed, your drapes are made by hand by experienced artisans who work carefully, as if they are dressing your home in the best clothes. Handmade, custom window treatments aren’t cheap or cheaply made. Like a tailored suit, these one-of-a-kind designs are made to look beautiful, to radiate quality and to last.
